There is a specific kind of energy that comes with planning a Cascade Hills Country Club wedding, especially when the couple is as down to earth as Heather and Adam. Planning from Battle Creek meant they needed a partner in Grand Rapids to bridge the distance, and from our first call, I stepped in to be their sounding board and logistics lead. Heather is a host at heart; she wanted her 250 guests to feel seen and cared for, which required a level of organization that goes far beyond a beautifully curated mood board. Through months of planning, I managed 17 different vendors to ensure that every moving part, from the transportation to the live music transitions, happened exactly on cue to ensure Heather and Adam had the dream day they envisioned and deserved!
Meaningful Moments at St. Alphonsus
The day began at St. Alphonsus Parish, a space that matches the classic elegance Heather and Adam envisioned. While many couples worry that a high guest count can feel impersonal, I solved that through a timeline built around many touch points starting as soon as they finished their “I do’s”. Instead of disappearing immediately after the ceremony, Heather and Adam chose a row dismissal and a formal church exit. These few extra minutes allowed them to actually look their guests in the eye and share a moment of excitement before the celebration moved across town. As a planner, I see so many couples get swept away by the schedule, but watching them prioritize these greetings ensured the day felt intimate despite the large scale.

From Timeless Design to Personal Statements
What started as a timeless black and white wedding in the early design stages developed into classic elegance with tasteful pops of emerald and mauve. From textured linens, lush florals, and chandelier installations to a custom crest, nods to their pup Beau, and generational cake knife and server, what emerged was the perfect marriage between glamorous statements and intentional personal touches.
In the reception space at Cascade Hills, we set up a “Generations of Love” display. It wasn’t just a collection of photos, but a tribute to the long-standing marriages in their families that led them to this moment. These personal touches helped infuse the couple’s love and personality into every corner of the venue even in the moments that Heather and Adam weren’t in the room.

Managing the Guest Experience
To keep the momentum of a Cascade Hills Country Club wedding moving, we treated the day like a carefully crafted performance. Guest experience doesn’t happen by accident- it’s the result of a very specific flow. We started with live strings for the ceremony, moved into live guitar for the cocktail hour, and then transitioned the energy again with a live pianist as guests found their seats for dinner. We also chose to front load most of the formalities before dinner to keep guests engaged and allow the culinary team’s three course meal the room to shine. By the time the live band, Funkle Jesse, took the stage, the guests were already fully engaged and ready to dance.
Behind the scenes, my job was to handle the 17 vendors and the inevitable hiccups so Heather and Adam could stay in the moment. When she told me later that she was able to be fully present and that the day felt “unreal” in its smoothness, I knew we had succeeded. My promise is always to handle the logistics and the heavy lifting so that my couples can focus on the people they love.
